I would be lying if I said that I am not excited at the prospect of Autumn. In my head, when I say Autumn, I mean the golden light, crunching leaves and sunny days, not the constant barrage of rain & wind that is more what I can expect in reality. To aid my idealistic expectations of an Indian Summer I have wheeled out all of my favouirite autumn lip products to get that autumn feeling!
Autumn, to me at least, is the season for dark berry & plum lips paired with cozy sweaters – my no. 1, favourite look. There’s always so many beautiful dark lip colours to choose from & brands have not dissapointed with the latest autumn collections. Here’s a little edit of my current seasonal lip stash – some new additions together with good old faves!
There’s lots of ways of wearing a berry lip, you don’t have to go all dark if that’s not your thing. One of my everyday go-to lippies is MAC Craving. It’s a gorgeous syrupy plum shade, very wearable and you can blend it out to be quite subtle. The lipstick comes in MAC’s Amplified formula which makes it highly pigmented and long lasting. A great one for every day!
The next product is definitely deeper in shade but much sheerer in finish. Again, a staple in my handbag this YSL beauty in 02 Pourpre Intouchable. I love the formula of the Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks – they are comfy and moisturising and come in the best range of colours!
For a more sexy and glossy finish my go to these days is MACs Cremesheen Glass in Perfect Frame, from the It’s A Strike Collection. This one is more on the purple side. It’s highly pigmented and definitely more of a statement lip. The formula is lovely and creamy with a high shine gloss finish. It seems to slightly stain the lips which makes the product wear a bit longer compared to a regular gloss.
Another beautiful lipstick from YSL that I’ve been reaching for lots is 212 Alternative Plum from their Scandal Fall collection. This is a matte lipstick in a distinctive dark plum shade. It’s a really feminine shade that, despite the darkness, is very wearable. The formula is absolutely lovely – a long lasting matte that is comfortable and hydrating on the lips.
And last but not least the lip pencils. I hardly ever wear lip pencils as an outline of my lipsticks. I usually just pop them all over my and might top them up with a lipstick or gloss but would just as often wear them on their own. Lip liners are perfect if you have a long day ahead or a lot of talking to do, with not many opportunities to touch up. My two current favourites are Blackmail from Urban Decay & Plum from MAC. The UD 24/7 pencils are amazing – creamy and comfortable to wear and, the best part, they last for absolute ages! This one comes in a deep wine / berry colour and is really quite dark, not for the faint-hearted! Plum is slightly more muted, a dark reddish plum shade with a hint of brown in it. It’s amazing for a super long lasting & matte lip look!
