It’s been quite a while since I have been really excited about beauty products but after a recent clear out I fancied picking up a few new bits. A new foundation was top of my list and somehow buying one opened the floodgates! A new fragrance & beautiful pressed powder found their way into my hands within 15 minutes.
So without further ado, let’s get to the things you actually want to know. Here’s a few mini reviews of the things I have recently been loving.
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation
I’ve been on the hunt for a new foundation and it’s taken me a few weeks to find one I love. I am very fussy when it comes to bases – I love ones that are light in formula but have decent coverage. The Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation is just that – undetectable on the skin but still incredible at covering a multitude of sins.
It has a doe-foot applicator that makes even distribution super easy and means you can also use it as a concealer (it actually works really well under the eyes!). The foundation is €33 and available from all Clinique counters. I particularly love the finish of it when I used the Clinique brush to apply it, which brings me onto the next point…
Clinique Buff Brush
I’ve gone through so many foundation brushes over the years and still found that applying it with my fingers gives the best, most natural effect. There’s been a few stippling-style brushes I really and this one is definitely up there with my fave Louise Young and Zoeva brushes.
It’s very soft and quite fluffy for a buffing brush. It’s not too dense, which means it applies your base lightly without caking you in it. And because it is really large it takes no time at all to pop on foundation in the morning! Love it!
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder
The full name of it is actually Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder which is a bit of a mouthful… It’s a pressed powder! Aside from the name though it actually is lovely! It is a very finely milled powder that’s enriched with rose wax and almond oil which means it is beautifully smoothing! It’s not at all drying and doesn’t cling to any bits you don’t want it to cling to. The CT powder leaves my skin perfected and luminous but takes away any unwanted shine.
Like all of Charlotte’s products, this one ain’t cheap! At €42 I think the packaging could be a little less plastic-y but all in all, I am really glad I picked it up. I will be repurchasing!
The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer
I’m not a massive primer-wearer and rarely find one that works for me. Most primers are too heavy on the silicone which for some reason does exactly the opposite on my skin to what a primer is meant to do! Things become all slid-y and gross.
I’ve recently discovered The Ordinary range and found their High-Spreadability Primer* really different and intriguing. I love the consistency of it, it’s more like a serum than a primer and it sinks into the skin rather than sitting on top. The concept of this primer is super simple but it works! It increases the spreadability (no surprise here) of complexion makeup to help avoid uneven accumulation of pigments especially around the eyes and on dry skin. It also acts as a non-oily hydrator. The best part – it works and it’s €7.20! Yes, that’s right! €7.20! I’ve ordered a ton more from The Ordinary range and more reviews will be coming very soon!
In the meantime you can pick up the High-Spreadability Primer on the Deciem website.
& Other Stories Fig Fiction Eau de Toilette
Ever since & Other Stories opened in Dublin I have been obsessed! The clothes & shoes are fabulous (I love everything) but the beauty department in there can also not be ignored. I’ve picked up lipsticks, candles and blush but the thing I am most impressed with is this gorgeous fig scented fragrance.
The scent is clean and sophisticated and I love the packaging! At €30 I think it was a great buy and one of my new handbag staples!
