We probably all know someone who has a Loubou habit – breathe easy; we’re not suggesting you cough up a month’s mortgage payment on a pair of red souls. You can however buy into the House of Louboutin at a more accessible price point. We’re talking about the Christian Louboutin beauty collection, which first launched about two years back and no including both lip and nail products. We need to talk some more about the packaging. Being a sucker for pretty packaging, these products have to be the Holy Grail. They’re nothing short of theatrical and make great dressing table centre pieces – almost too beautiful to use. The dramatic spike cap on these nail polishes is modeled after the Ballerina ULTIMA, the highest heel Louboutin has made. Ironically enough it’s also surprisingly user friendly to have such a substantial cap – although that could be just the awkward lefty in me. The science-bit behind the dramatic bottle design doesn’t end there; the brush is custom-designed with triangle bristle construction making application effortless. For anyone who isn’t so talented in the nail-painting department, this is a very good thing. The formula itself is highly pigmented and chip-proof with the high gloss finish you’d expect from a Louboutin product.
And then we have the colours to fall in love with. If nudes and noirs are generally your thing, brace yourself. The variety is so clean, classic and wearable that it would be hard to get it wrong if you were to gift a bottle to a luxe beauty lover. Encased in a cleverly designed glossy box, this is the gift for the girl who has everything. Admittedly not cheap at €50 a bottle, there’s no doubt the price point that’s very on brand. That said for a luxe beauty lover this is a very special little something for under the tree. Christian Louboutin beauty is available exclusively from Brown Thomas.
